Recently our 3rd graders spent the night at the Cameron Park Zoo. Each student was treated to a behind the scenes look of habitats belonging to the Giraffes, Lions, and Tigers. Students fed giraffes. Did you know they have purple tongues? The large cats enjoyed watching us as much as we enjoyed watching them. Each student put their sleeping down in either the fresh or salt water aquarium and enjoyed falling asleep to the soft light glowing in the aquariums.
The next morning after eating breakfast, HPDS has the zoo to ourselves until it opened. We saw the animals being released to their outdoor areas and participated in a scavenger hunt searching for fun facts about animals. It was a memorable experience for everyone.
